Claimant v Metropolitan Police Service
Outcome
Individual claims
Claim struck out for non-pursuit. The claimant failed to actively pursue the claim and did not comply with the Tribunal Order dated 05 June 2025. The claimant was given an opportunity to make representations or request a hearing but failed to provide any comprehensible response.
Facts
The claimant brought an employment claim against the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis. The tribunal issued an Order on 05 June 2025 which the claimant failed to comply with. On 06 October 2025, the tribunal wrote to the claimant giving her an opportunity to make representations as to why the claim should not be struck out, but she failed to provide any comprehensible response despite warnings from Employment Judge Wright about the difficulty in interpreting her communications.
Decision
The tribunal struck out the claim on the basis that it had not been actively pursued and the claimant had not complied with the tribunal's Order. A scheduled four-day hearing from 09-12 March 2027 was cancelled.
Practical note
Unrepresented claimants must comply with tribunal orders and actively pursue their claims, or face strike-out even where a full merits hearing has been scheduled.
