This is a remedy hearing following a finding of liability for disability discrimination against the Department for Work and Pensions. The discrimination occurred on or around 6 March 2024. The claimant suffered loss of earnings, pension contributions and injury to feelings as a result of the discrimination. The claimant's health has been affected and he has been unable to work.
Decision
The tribunal awarded the claimant £45,059.05 comprising injury to feelings of £16,000 (middle Vento band), loss of earnings and pension contributions of £24,974.97, interest on both sums totalling £3,874.27, and grossing up of £569.81. The tribunal also made a recommendation that the respondent write to the claimant confirming he can apply for future jobs once recovered without prejudice from these proceedings.
