Facts

Ms Okoye brought claims of discrimination on grounds of race, sex and pregnancy, as well as harassment related to race and a claim for unauthorised deduction of wages against Ultimate Care Ltd, a healthcare company. A preliminary hearing had been held on 21 January 2025 which identified the claims to be determined. The claimant withdrew one standalone sex discrimination claim before the hearing and withdrew the wages claim at the end of the three-day hearing.

Decision

The tribunal dismissed all of the claimant's discrimination and harassment claims after a three-day hearing. The tribunal found that the claimant failed to establish direct discrimination on grounds of race, sex or pregnancy, and failed to establish harassment related to race. Oral reasons were provided to the parties at the conclusion of the hearing.

Practical note

A lay-represented claimant's multiple discrimination claims failed after a full merits hearing where the tribunal was not persuaded that any of the alleged discriminatory treatment was established.
