Facts
Mrs Shaheen, an employee of Joyalukkas Ltd (a retail jewellery company), brought claims of direct discrimination and harassment on the grounds of race and age. The hearing took place over three days in February 2025 with a further day in April and deliberations in chambers. The claimant gave evidence through Urdu and Bengali interpreters, suggesting she required language assistance.
Decision
The tribunal dismissed all of the claimant's claims. The tribunal found that the claims of direct race discrimination, harassment related to race, direct age discrimination, and harassment related to age were not well-founded. Oral reasons were given at the hearing on 8 May 2025.
