Facts
Mr Lightfield brought multiple disability discrimination claims, whistleblowing, holiday pay and unlawful deduction of wages claims against the Chief Constable of South Wales Police. At a preliminary hearing conducted remotely, the claimant was represented by solicitor Michael Tait and the respondent by solicitor Simon James. The claimant withdrew several of his claims at this hearing.
Decision
The tribunal dismissed the whistleblowing, holiday pay, and four disability discrimination claims (direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, section 19A, and victimisation) on withdrawal. The remaining claims of discrimination arising from disability (section 15), failure to make reasonable adjustments (sections 20-21), harassment (section 26), and unlawful deduction of wages will proceed to a final hearing.
Practical note
This is a case management decision where a claimant strategically withdrew certain claims at a preliminary hearing while proceeding with core disability discrimination and wages claims to final hearing.
